Come over to the Weatherby Force
Wow, never got to be the first person to ever open a web page before on such a new site.
Well anyway I got a Weatherby synthetic in 243 Winchester, with Weaver bases,Weaver "Grand Slam" rings, and Weaver V-16 "classic" variable scope. Used for general varminting, but mostly deer hunting and I must say, I'd never thought I'd say, I own a Weatherby, even though it's in a caliber that's universal.

Cool! Never considered a Whetherby. The wife just got a Stevens .243 and loves it. We went out to sight it in today. I love that round. Has a big bang, but it's bark is worse than it's bite. A perfect round for the little lady. We'll be taking it hunting this season.

So do you have pictures? I'd love to see it.

Here's a pic of my Weatherby 243Win synthetic.
Hope it comes out a little smaller than my Bonnie pic I sent earlier in another post.

Sweet! Still a big picture, but I can live with it. Nice rifle. How much $$$ do those run?

RE: Come over to the Weatherby Force
Yeah, it did still come out a little large--but if it got stolen at least I could come here and show the cop what it looked like---LOL.
You can get this model for around $400. Of course the scope and it's mounting hardware came in at around close to $400 also. You always want good glass on a good rifle. I also have a Mossberg in 30-06 wearing Nikon that brought down a very nice "non-typical" 12 point buck in the '08 season.
Also got some stock and full-on "custom target" Ruger's in rimfires that I built, along with a 50's High Standard pistol wearing a laser. I enjoy my guns and as you can tell, I don't feel any one brand is better than the other. They just serve a different purpose.
Stevens makes a fine rifle--your Wife will enjoy it's reliability.

Wow, I like that one too....
You like that Weaver V16, I hadn't seen a Weaver scope until now, where do you buy them?
Also do you load your own ammo?

RE: Come over to the Weatherby Force
Gnepig, I haven't reloaded ammo in 35+ years. I save all my spent ammo and I should get back into it to save some $.
You can get Weaver scopes at Bass Pro, Cabela's, most well stocked new/used gun shops. Becareful, that if you get a used Weaver, just be sure whether it's the old type(built in El Paso, Tx) you may have hard time getting it repaired, but if new Weaver(Japan) you can get it repaired. If buying NEW(I recommend this) it will have "life time free repairs"---just save receipt and make copies of it. At least for my V-16 classic it's life time. Customer Service is excellent and turnaround is very good. I had a problem with my Weaver and it was sent in and it came back to me better than new.
I will tell ya this, Walmart has a very good scope for sale that's called Center Point. ONLY get this scope in 3-9x40. It'll take the recoil of a Ruger 416(that's what packaging says) and is warranteed for life time. I've found the glass to be very good. The company is rated very good. They also have a 4-12x40(which is good) and I tried it on my 30-06, but it couldn't take the recoil. For up to 243 calibers, I wouldn't be afraid to use it though.
