Found 4 guns---all lever actions. 1st gun is a Western Field 30-30 model 740A-EMN. Guy wants $375, but can get for less than $300. Gun is in EXCELLENT condition. I found a couple references on it, but not about the model A-EMN reference as to who made it(Mossberg or Savage). Doesn't appear to be from Marlin, because of the trigger action when ratcheting the lever.
The 2nd and 3rd rifles are both Winchester 94 30-30's. Both a little rough on gun finish, but actions are good, and need cleaned and oiled. Guy wants $250 for either one and there is a couple differences in appearance(gun swivel/rubber shoulder pad/surface finish). Both rifles have a starting Serial number of 34xxxxxxx, so I don't know D O M.
4th gun. All I can say is WOW. It's a Savage Model 99 in 300 Savage. This gun is Superb in all aspects, but don't know if shoulder would be able to handle all that THUMPIN' at my age. Wants $450, but I'm sure I could get him down.
Well that's it, what do you all think as to what I should get if I get one? Any Pro or Cons?
The Ruger LCP and the Uncle Mikes holster fit perfectly inside it, and it even has a little pocket for extra mags. It's even lockable, thought I wouldn't count on the lock to keep someone from taking the whole box with them to open it up with a screwdriver or something, but it makes a cool little storage box to maybe keep the gun by your recliner or in a kitchen cupboard of you want to hide a gun away. The possiblilities are endless.

Was a beautiful day and Wife went with me to gun range for 1st time and we shot her Bersa 380, and I had my Hi-Points in 9mm and 40S&W. Going great and Wife was getting used to Bersa with it's many levers(slide hold-open, safety, and slide removal), button(mag release) and how to safely de-cock gun and other shooting know how. For some reason it would jam and FTF(fail to feed) when it got down to last 2 bullets in mag. She did pretty good, but her thumb got sliced a couple times when she didn't realize she was sticking it up and slide bit her and she bled like a real warrior. Aww, the joys of autos. Surprisingly, the Bersa was shooting high(no elevation adjustment) and at 25yds we were shooting over the target, but I'll set up a target at home and let her shoot at 10yds to see how she does which I think will be much better. The danger came from myself. I was loading up all the guns and when I got through with sending some rounds downrange with my 9mm carbine, I decided to load up my 40S&W again to shoot, which, BOTH HI-POINTS were performing flawlessly all day. Went to shoot and I thought "dang this gun sure does have nice recoil all of a sudden". 2 bullets were sent down the pipe and 3rd bullet went off, BUT it didn't reload and slide was hung open. OK, I drop mag and see that the case was still in breech and was stuck. First time for this, so I grab my short cleaning rod and run it into the barrel and give it a tap to dislodge shell casing. MY GAWD, this thing was expanded twice it's size. OK what's wrong with this picture. OH GEEZE. I wound up putting 9mm into my 40 Hi-Point. I honestly didn't think they would fire, as a 9mm will litterly fall through the barrel of a 40S&W, BUT BELIEVE ME, they will load up in the clip just fine, and THEY WILL FIRE. So be careful out there boys/girls, if you're using more than one gun at the range, look to MAKE SURE you're loading the correct ammo for the correct caliber of gun. Especially if all guns require clips such as the guns we were shooting. Reloaded, with correct 40S&W and Hi-Point functioned flawlessly rest of day. LUCKY ME that gun didn't decide to disintergrate. All in all, we sent around 300 rounds down range for a fun day. Sorry, no pictures, :doh:but I did save casing as a reminder to "BE VERY CAREFUL" the next time.

Hello Everyone,

My wife and I recently went to a gun show and as usual, a gun caught my eye. It is a Ruger P85 9MM with a serial prefix of 301, the safety also has mark 2 stamped on it. The guy who was manning the table said he thought it was worth around $400 and was asking $350 I offered him $300 and he took it. The gun came in its original hard case and came with two stainless clips. The gun is stainless on "matte" finish. I am not sure that matte is the correct term for the finish but the actual name is slipping my mind.

Overall it is in great shape, the trigger guard has some wear on it, it appears the holster it was kept in rubbed the paint off it also has a custom grip (rubber) and just a minute bit of wear on the stainless slide near the end of the barrel.

I am $300.00 in as of now and I think I could happily use this gun for many years without investing another dime, and I think for the price and condition I did really well.

The guy who sold it told me he was going to send it into Ruger to have it re blued and restored and that they charge around $80.00 for that. According to to the website that process can cost between 80 and 110 dollars.

SO...

For a total investment of $420.00 do you think I could re sell it and get my money back?

I know how most of America likes that kinda stuff so it will bring in the ratings and show regular people some good shooting, but I think if a whiney wuss emerages from the crowd, all the tough guys should get to kick the crap outta him= that would be fun!
There was a Bryson/Jennings, Phoenix Arms, Kel-Tec(good little guns), Raven(have one--can't find it), Jennings, and of course Hi-Point in ALL the calibers they make. Handled a few, but the Hi-Points just fit my hands better than the others. They had a few Glocks, Taurus, S&W just to name a few other pistols I might need in the future, along with a good assortment of rifles(no lever actions though--shucks). While there, I got a couple extra magazines for my HP 40 as backup. I think I'll keep this pawn shop on my shopping list. Always good to find other places to shop besides WalMart.

Well, I think I've decided what I want for Father's Day. I'm gonna tell the Wife that I want to take a class for my Conceal Carry for Missouri. Does this sound like putting my 2nd Amendment to work--I think so. I've emailed a local training about where located for class/dates available and other gun/ammo questions, so I'm gonna do it for my family's safety and my right as an AMERICAN. I think I'll take 2 pistols and then decide which one to use for the class and use the other one as a backup if it's allowed(just in case).

Started out needing to go to town(20 miles away) to put work check into bank(direct deposit hasn't started yet), and get some gas for lawnmower and other gas guzzling farm items, then Mom calls to say she needed to get new battery for her lawnmower and would I pick up battery since I was headed into town. Yeah, sure. Finally got out of town an hour and half later and stop at Mom's house to spend the next hour R&R her battery for mower-then start to make sure it worked good. At least Mom only lives 30 seconds(by car) from me. Finally home and do lawn work on 1-1/4 acres, which is small by farm standards, but in 85 degrees with the same humidity, it can get pretty warm and 3 hours later, I'm done. On to next chore. Wife's 4x4. Needed to replace a O2 sensor. I replaced one sensor in April to see if it would clear up a bad code, but NOOOOOOOO, this wouldn't do it, so had to also replace the second sensor, which only took 1-1/2 hours(still better than the first sensor which took 3 hours and help from Brother-n-law). Ok sensor done(and this was on top of replacing the battery on Friday, because of a "no-start" problem which I fixed after 2 hours). Now onto third chore for the day. Installing a window air conditioner. Ok, get wood from barn, get saws, square, table saw, sawhorses, screws and other various items, then measure windows to see which one I can put unit in(we just got new windows for home and last thing I want to do is put holes into window framework). This is also the 3 unit I've put into the home since we got the new windows, so it's the last unit at least to install. Ok, start measuring, cutting, OH CRAP, I just cut the wrong type of wood. I cut a 2x4 instead of a 1x4 for one portion of window sill--now got to retrace all measurements onto new wood and recut. Ok got all wood cut, now calling Wife for some help with extra hands to hold pieces of wood together---Come on Honey, I'm going as fast as I can---but my arms hurt. Jeeesh! Don't you want me to get the last AC in before Summer? Yes, but my arms hurt, go faster, I'm about to drop the wood, I can't hold on any longer. Ok got last screws in, you can let go. I got to go get some more wood to make a brace to hold up back side. All this took was just 3 hours of "PURE" custom work from start to finish, but AC is in and running. Man, I think I needed to go to WORK just to relax from this day. NAW, it's still better to have a bad day off work, then it is to go to work for a good day. Just think. On Sunday, I get to chainsaw down the rest of a 75 year old elm in my yard to keep the roots from doing more damage to my basement and possible home's main water line. Then onto the painting of the 3 AC units mounts that I now have up to keep from rotting from rain/humidity. Maybe once this is done, I'll actually have time to do some catfishing or shooting at the range to relax. NOT. This Weekend is gone. Next Weekend, I'm going to Margaritaville.

Rock Island 1911's. Mine is the black one, the wife's is the bling bling one. Got these today from the Gun Buying Club.

These are very, very accurate, even with the iron sights. That, and when you can get two for about the price of one, this is really the way to go.

Just a side note, I gave the Gun Buying Club a try since I am flying their banners on the site, and they delivered fast and as advertised. AND I saved a bundle of money! Bravo!

Hello all, thanks for the forum. I just found it today and have been enjoying reading so far. I want to non-stupidly contribute, I have been hunting and shooting all my life, love bow-hunting as well.

I just got a a .308 from a guy and it shoots really nice and feels good but have no clue about the maker. The only name I can find on the barrel is C.T. Huston. It has a serial number on it and a shamrock in the serial number. He is in the military and picked it up off of a guy that he is in the reserves with. He knew nothing about it either except that it shoots nice. Any help would be appreciated, I have tried searchinf the web and only hit even close was a link to a custom gunsmith shop in Idaho but I could not find any info on the rifle nor the name on the website.

Thanks in advance,

Hi all. I have a couple of old Remington rifles, and have an offer from a collector to purchase them. I'm just trying to confirm whether the offer is in the right ballpark (the collector is an acquaintance of the family and I have no reason to suspect it is not a fair offer, but possibly we may both be out to lunch on their value).

The rifles are fairly old, but I'm not sure when they were manufactured as there is no year stamped anywhere. All I can see is a reference to Browning patents in 1900 and 1902. They are .32 and .35 caliber respectively, semi-auto, and have a permanent magazine that has to be top-loaded via the breach. They have sort of a two barrel construction - the regular barrel is wrapped with a larger barrel (@ an inch thick) which I understood to serve some sort of cooling purpose. Barrel length is probably @ 24" (I haven't measured, just eyeballed). There is 'Rem 32' and 'Rem 35' stamped near the breach - possibly this is the model #?

Guns are well-used but still in fairly good shape considering their presumed age, and still in working order. Collector is offering $200 per gun, does that seem reasonable?
