Squirrel Huntin'
Me and a Guy I work with, will hopefully put in some squirrel huntin this Saturday just before the season closes on Feb 14th. Hope the weather holds out. I just went out and fired off my '71 Ruger 10/22 with the original scope I installed on it in 1971. This is the only rifle I've set up as a hunting rifle since I bought it in 1971 AND have kept it, as I set it up, for over 40yrs with the same scope/mounts/sling/everything. Why screw with a sure thing? Sighted in around 35 to 40yds. Shot good enough that I'll bring home some meat if those varmints are out of their nests this weekend. Wish me luck.Thumbup2

RE: Squirrel Huntin'
We've got until the end of the month here in Michigan. Don't know if I am getting back out again or not. Good luck, and post those trophy photos!

Didn't get to go huntin'. Had unexpected work to do. However I do have good Valentine's Day news in another thread.

RE: Squirrel Huntin'
Hunting tree rats is a great way to teach the youth hunting saftey, how to field dress game, marksmanship, as well as a great time getting out of town and making memories with friends and family... We have a spot on the Mogollion Rim about an hour off the black top I've been going for the past 16yrs but it was started by a group of guys 32yrs ago... Never know how many will show usually about 20 one year only 9 of us showed but every like 4yrs we have a big turn out one year there was 50 of us tents and campers everywhere but somehow most of us sat around the same fire pit... One of the guys we call Yank is 75 or 6 years old he's an one of the men that started it because we all get drawn for deer & elk in different units and this was a way in the center of our state we could all have one hunt together... Made a lot of friends hunting no mater how big or small the game hunting brings people together...
